Drives

In general, a drive ensures that a machine or a machine part is set in motion. Over the years, more and more different applications have been devised by means of drives. At AE Trading b.v. we therefore believe in a comprehensive product range that can be widely used in various market segments. As a technical wholesaler, we are specialized in your linear drive technologies. But how does a drive work and what different types are there?

How does a drive work?

A machine or machine part is set in motion by a regulating system. We call this system a drive in its entirety. When the driving system is directly connected to the driven object, we speak of a direct drive. However, in most cases a transmission is required between the driving system and the driven object. This is referred to as an indirect drive. To get an idea of drives, one can think of, for example, the combustion engine or the drive of the blades of a windmill. A drive can work in different ways. Gearboxes with gears are used in many drives. A gear, cogwheel or cog is a toothed part in combination with another toothed part that is used in drives to initiate a movement. In addition to a movement, a gear can also change the speed or direction of the applied force. When using a gear or worm wheel, we often speak of a mechanical drive, but there are more types of drives.

What different types of drives are there?

There are different drive systems in technology today:

– Mechanical drives
Using a mechanical ability to provide work.

– Electric drives
Electric drives convert electricity into a mechanical force. Electric drives are used in electric motors to set a machine or tool in motion. Electric drives are becoming more and more popular in the market. AE Trading has various options within the electric drives.

– Hydraulic drives
With hydraulic drives, machines or machine parts are set in motion by means of fluid pressure. Hydraulic oil is often used for the fluid pressure.

– Pneumatic drives
Pneumatic actuators are similar to hydraulic ones, but are powered by air pressure rather than a fluid.

Within these different types of drives there are, for example, spindle drives, worm gear drives, lifting columns and (electric) scissor lifts.

From which suppliers do we sell drives?

Within our product category ‘Drives’ we sell drives from the following suppliers:– Baumeister & Schack– Heretic– Logic data– OSLV

For which market segments do we work?

The product range of A&E Trading is comprehensive and very widely applicable in various market segments. The market segments are currently divided into: Machine Construction, Engineering, Industry, High Tech, Interior Construction, Office Furniture, Medical & Healthcare, Agro & Food and Shipbuilding & Off-shore.

Office furniture & Interior construction at AE Trading

At AE Trading b.v. we see the applications of drives within office furniture & interior construction steadily increase. It has become increasingly important for companies to create a pleasant working atmosphere for their employees. This also includes a good workplace with the right desk, chair and work screen. With our linear drive techniques we provide a tailor-made interior. A good example of our interior customization is the TV lift system. This powerful system can be built into the furniture and used for external and internal company presentations.

Is my workplace ergonomic?

Above we have already briefly discussed the applications of drives for office furniture & interior construction. The importance of an ergonomic workplace has become increasingly relevant. Working ergonomically means that the correct working posture is adopted and sufficient physical and mental rest moments are planned for employees. With the drives from AE Trading b.v. you don’t have to wonder if your workplace is ergonomic. For example, the Plug & Play compatibility concept of the DMD500 allows for a wide range of single adjustable table systems. Market segments: Our drives are actively used in various market segments. By talking to the customer, we immediately know how to advise the right product, partly due to our years of experience and knowledge of all types and versions.Industry: A PLC control is often used in industry, not every drive or motor is directly suitable for this. Fortunately, we have a wide range of drives and motors that are suitable for this, sometimes an extra printed circuit board / control must be applied to allow both worlds to communicate with each other.Office Furniture: In the Office Furniture market segment, drives are often recommended that we control with our LOGICDATA controls, click here for an overview. Our drives / motors are most commonly used in sit-stand tables. Ergonomics is an important factor at the moment. Adjusting a desk is done by means of lifting columns / lifting columns. These lifting columns / lifting columns again contain our drives, possibly in combination with a spindle. But there are also other applications. think of adjusting screens, tilting table tops or a desk top.Producers: Our range consists of products from different suppliers.Baumeister & Schack: We have in-house developed drives / motors from Baumeister & Schack in our range. It is precisely the German solidity and flexibility that gives us the space to properly help the customer.Heretic Getriebe: In the south of Germany, the beautiful Black Forest, the company Ketterer Getriebe has been active in the drive industry for years. They are the market leader in spindle techniques and everything has been developed in-house. The telescopic spindle was launched by Ketterer Getriebe. The drives / motors and their (telescopic) spindle were the start of a sit-stand solution in the Office Furniture market.
